Dubai’s size and scale inspire the worst of the travel cliches.
“A land of contrasts.”
“Larger than life.”
“The Las Vegas of the Middle East.”
In reality Dubai is simultaneously all and none of these things. This city, perhaps more than any other, is what the traveler makes of it. You might love the history and culture of the Old Souk, the culinary influence of Indian and Pakistani guest workers, the feats of engineering that dominate the skyline, or something else entirely.
But one way or another, you will fall for at least one of this city’s charms. Just make sure you upgrade to business class for the flight – it’s a long one.
