Earthquakes are getting more common in the frequent flyer world. As recently as a few years ago, all we had to worry about were occasional benefit changes and small increases to the amount of miles needed to redeem for tickets.
And to think we used to complain back then!

A shocking number of people don’t bother to collect frequent flyer miles on any given flight. While hard statistics are difficult to come by, anecdotal evidence suggests that your seatmate may very well not have bothered to sign up for any frequent flyer program. Southwest Airlines has made a significant change to its policy about missed flights. Beginning today – September 13, 2013 – unless you cancel your “Wanna Get Away” or “DING!” fare reservation at least 10 minutes prior to your flight, you will lose all value associated with that reservation. This includes later segments in the reservation booked with Business Select or Anytime funds. (more…)

These alliances are where airlines come together as partners, coordinating routes, flight times and other aspects of travel that make it a more seamless experience when you’re traveling on multiple airlines.
